I read with disgust that the councillors in Middlesbrough are forced to charge £40 for lost or stolen wheelie bins. Let’s get this in its right perspective.
These wheelie bins were forced upon us, and lots of people have to leave their bins at the front of their properties because they can’t get down the side or round the back of their properties. So, in a lot of cases, these people can’t be held responsible for their bins. It could be there when they went to bed but could be anywhere in the morning.
The bins could be getting nicked by someone in the same sort of business where they could be used for storage or for putting animals foods in.
Most people who want a wheelie bin will nick them rather than pay for them but it shouldn’t come back on the poor resident who is then forced to buy a replacement at a cost of £40!
