SOME 30 schoolchildren joined councillors and entrepreneurs at a special innovation and business event at Milton Park.
The event, a joint venture between the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire District Councils, was hosted by the MEPC Innovation Centre at Milton Park.
It included workshops for the 14 to 18-year-olds from local schools and an interactive quiz on reasons councils work with local businesses.
The pupils also learnt about making business plans and questioned businessmen and councillors.
They also heard about career opportunities, including apprenticeships, and picked up tips on how to impress prospective employers.
SODC leader Ann Ducker said: “This has been a wonderful day seeing the young people engaging so enthusiastically with local businesses.
“It demonstrates how hard the district councils are working at developing businesses and innovation to help strengthen the local economy.”
Milton Park is a part of Science Vale UK, one of a number of Enterprise Zones recently established around the country aiming to bring 6,000 new jobs to the area.
