Thames Water is urging people to take action to prevent pipes bursting in their homes due to freezing temperatures.
The company issued the advice after more than 100,000 insurance claims across the UK were made last winter for damage worth £680m caused by burst pipes.
Supporting the national Get Ready for Winter campaign, which launched yesterday, Thames Water has posted a series of cold weather tips and short films on its website featuring advice on ways to protect homes this winter, including how to lag pipes. The company has also launched a new online tool for customers to find approved plumbers.
