ALL over car parks, there are posters of every size and leaflets and flyers explaining the ‘re-introduction’ of charges to park at Redbridge, Seacourt and Pear Tree from October 1.

It seems the cost is £1.50 a day, if you use the machine, (where are the machines?), or you can use your mobile phone or online methods to book your parking.

Where is the incentive to book online? Where are the discounts?

It is £1.70 to book a parking space whether you use it or not. If you try to book five days (weekdays), it costs £7.70.

Twenty-eight days will cost £30.80, to book a calendar period, if you use the space or not.

The Bus Key is a brilliant scheme. You are charged when you use the bus, not days you don’t.

Just who is getting all this money? How much money is the city council saving in administration fees by paying a company to offer a service?

I don’t mind paying when I do park. In the past they offered a monthly season ticket, which cheaper than the £1 a day (that was when they administered it themselves).
