Regarding the Michael Jackson protest on September 24.

As one of the group of fans taking part in the Justice For Michael rally this past Saturday, I have just seen the article and, considering the reporter interviewed many of us at the time, I and others are dismayed that not even a quarter of what was said was included.

Even allowing for editorial space, I consider that you could well have included at least a few select comments from the fans involved.

We noted also that you used the moniker “Jacko”, which was first coined in the tabloid paper The Sun. We rather hoped that a small local press would be above that kind of small-minded behaviour. To add insult to injury I might tell you that the second part of that moniker “Jacko” originates from a racial slur and, in today’s politically correct climate, you would do well to avoid this kind of prejudice. Especially with the press in general experiencing a major scandal involving phone hacking.

I sincerely hoped that I could have expected better from a local newspaper rather than you resorting to a typically tabloid mentality, but am left with a sense of disappointment considering the amount of time the reporter and photographer spent with us.
