Parish newsletter The Littlemore Local informs residents of the recent qualifications gained by area beat ‘bobbies’.

They have apparently been trained in the use of ‘speed detection’ devices; all we need now is a resolve to use those skills.

Perhaps while they are at it they could also tackle some of the pavement parking, pavement cycling and riding without lights at night problems.

At an estimate they would easily cover a week’s wages in less than 30 minutes at Newman Road alone, especially in the evenings with some vehicles travelling in excess of 40mph on 20mph roads.

It would not surprise me if a good percentage of those caught by any speed operations in the locality are taxis/hire cars. The ‘cash cow’ is there, waiting to be milked.
