A CAMPAIGN to raise £18,000 to buy a Watlington boy a powered wheelchair is gaining momentum.

Four-year-old Elliott Baker has been in and out of hospital for much of his life after being diagnosed with irreversible brain damage. His parents, Caroline and Peter, are trying to raise money for a wheelchair which will make life easier for the youngster.

And local businesses and the community have rallied round to help. The Bread Bin coffee shop in the village will be holding a fundraising event tomorrow, with stalls, raffles, Indian head massage, and other attractions.

The fundraising event will be in Watlington High Street, which will be closed between 2pm and 4pm.

Bread Bin owner Sarah Smith said: “We are delighted to help Elliott and his family.

“Every penny really makes a difference and we hope our afternoon of fun will help push the total that little bit closer to the £18,000 goal.”

Mrs Baker said: “We are very grateful to the Bread Bin and everybody else for their support.”
