A MAN with a machete assaulted a supermarket worker before being tackled by another member of staff and a customer.

The man told staff to lead him into the back office of the Co-op in Rose Hill at 8.40pm yesterday.

Police said as he was walking to the back of the store, he was tackled by the pair.

Det Con Ben Yeats said: “We are confident that we have spoken to everyone who was in the store at the time of the incident, but if there is anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn’t spoken to officers then I would urge them to come forward.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen a man carrying a machete in the area prior to this incident.”
