A MAN accused of murdering his wife and her mother and trying to kill their friend smiled and pulled faces as he was taken into court yesterday.

Ensar Gol’s appearance at Oxford Magistrates’ Court came as relatives paid tribute to 28-year-old Michala Gol and her mother Julie Sahin, 50, who were found dead at their house in Thame on Sunday.

Gol was smiled and pulled faces at photographers as he was taken from a prison van and led into the court building in handcuffs for his first appearance.

The 21-year-old, wearing a mottled dark blue polo shirt with white trim, sat in the dock with his arms crossed and followed the proceedings with the aid of a Turkish interpreter. Gol spoke only to confirm his name and his date of birth during the brief hearing.

Emergency services were called to Ireton Court, in Thame, at 2.20am on Sunday amid reports of a row at the family home.

Armed officers arrested Gol in the town’s Market Place and recovered a knife.

With Gol stood in the dock the court clerk read out two murder charges and one of attempted murder.

Last night the brothers of Mrs Sahin – nee Anderson – and the uncles of Michala Gol – nee Burgess-Hall – released a tribute.

They said: “We have had our sister and niece cruelly and tragically taken away from us.

“They were much loved and will always have a place in our hearts. At the moment we would like to be left alone to deal with our loss.”

Remanding Gol in custody, chairman of the bench David Simmons told him: “You are being sent for trial at Oxford Crown Court under Section 51 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

“This is for the offences of two murders and one attempted murder. You are being remanded in custody today to appear before Oxford Crown Court tomorrow at 10.30 in the morning.”

Meanwhile, Michala’s 19-year-old friend Casey Wilson, who was also attacked in the incident, remained in hospital last night.
