Post-mortem examinations will take place later today on the two women found dead in Thame.
Police believe the 50-year-old and the 29-year-old were stabbed to death.
The women have not been formally identified, but have been named locally as grandmother Julie Sahin and her daughter who had recently married.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the incident in Ireton Court the early hours of yesterday morning.
He is currently in custody and being questioned at Abingdon police station. Police are not looking to speak to anyone else in connection to the incident.
A 19-year-old woman who was also injured in the incident is recovering in the JR2 Hospital.
Senior Investigating Officer, Det Ch Insp Joe Kidman, said: “At this time it appears that all parties are known to each other and we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this case.
“I have a team of detectives working hard to establish the full circumstances of this incident and what led to the tragic deaths of these two women. Neighbourhood policing teams will continue to be visible in the area through out the day.
“We are grateful to members of the public who have come forward and provided us with information and we would ask others who can assist us with our investigation to make contact.
“I’m not expecting formal identifications to take place today but I will release this information as soon as they have taken place.”
