ASHER Morris, three, couldn’t resist giving a Cotswold ram a cuddle at a show at Burcot Farm in 1986. The fun day, organised by the Oxfordshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs, attracted more than 7,000 visitors. A drop by the Trail Blazers freefall parachute team was one of many attractions.
Pub pianist Chris Edwards found himself playing to an empty bar at the Chequers pub in 1984, but didn’t mind a bit. He tinkled the ivories for 12 hours non-stop to raise money for famine victims in Ethiopia.
Wallingford Bridge Club held a military bridge drive and raised £230 for the John Masefield Cheshire Home at Burcot. Club president Trevor Gillett is seen in the bottom picture handing the cheque to Lady Hedges, a supporter of the home.
