Pedestrians do need to be aware of road users and look before they step out.
However with cyclists, it shouldn’t be necessary for me to do this before I try to overtake a fellow pedestrian on the pavement.
Chris Day sums it up perfectly: “My bike is silent” which is exactly why his fellow cyclists should be on the road, where they belong, and not on the pavement.
