TWO thousand people are set to descend on Wantage to honour one of the town’s most famous sons.
The Wantage Betjeman Festival now has more than 40 events confirmed. It will run from Sunday to Saturday, September 17.
Festival organiser Jim Mitchell, right, said: “Wantage is going to get a lot of recognition.”
The first festival, which involves talks from authors, concerts, workshops and literary lunches, is named after former town resident and Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman.
