A VOLUNTARY ‘resignation’ scheme launched by managers of Oxford’s hospitals has attracted 200 applications.
The Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (Mars) is an NHS scheme which offers employees a severance payment to leave their job voluntarily.
It was put forward last year after NHS organisations were told they had to make significant savings.
The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust (ORH), which runs the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals in Oxford, and the Horton in Banbury, launched the latest round of its scheme in July.
A spokesman said: “Last year, the trust invited staff to apply for a Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme – this is not the same as voluntary redundancy.
“This provides staff with an opportunity to leave the trust voluntarily with a severance payment.
“A similar scheme has been running in July and August this year and so far about 200 people have applied.”
Decisions depend on clinical need.
