HEADINGTON came alive to the sound of clarinets.

All Saints’ Church in Lime Walk was the venue for a free music recital given by the Goldfield Ensemble, a group of professional musicians who gave up their time for free. The recital last month featured music by Brahms and Mozart and was all about celebrating the clarinet.

Kate Romano, the ensemble’s clarinettist, said: “We all lead very busy professional lives so it was an absolute treat to get together and play.

“We have been told it is great to see this sort of music locally because normally you have to trek into London.”

For her day job, Dr Romano works at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Held as part of the Summer Music Festival at All Saints’ Church, the recital was organised by the church for the benefit of the local community.
