SPORT is a great unifying force...especially when your team wins!
And yesterday was one of those great moments for Oxfordshire sport.
City athlete Hannah England grabbed a dramatic silver medal at the World Championships being staged in Korea.
It may not be gold, but certainly bodes well for her chances in the London Olympics next year.
On the final bend, she looked out of the race.
But, in a lightning finish, she left most of a world-class field in her wake.
In the end, she was inches from seizing a gold medal.
Hannah has shone in an otherwise fairly glum games for the British team.
She performed brilliantly when few even expected her to even make the 1,500-metre final.
We’re proud to say she is from Oxford.
Let’s hope next year she can go one better.
