TWO young Oxfordshire dancers have been picked to perform in a top ballet production.

Ten-year-old Eirlys Walters and eight-year-old Beatrice Millar will appear alongside the region’s best dancers in an English Youth Ballet production this weekend.

In February, the youngsters were selected from more than 200 eight- to 18-year-olds to perform in the classical ballet Coppelia in Surrey.

The girls will be dancing alongside international artists in the professional production and for the last two weeks they have been rehearsing for six hours every day.

Eirlys, from Wantage, and Beatrice from South Stoke, near Wallingford, will star in three performances in total, staged today and tomorrow.

Eirlys said: “I am nervous, but I am excited and looking forward to it.”

The Charlton Primary school pupil has been dancing for five years and trains with the Karen Brind School of Dance which is based in Wantage.
