A MAN who threatened a woman with a sword is being hunted by police.

The man entered a property in Abingdon at 10.30am today, threatened the woman and then assaulted her, causing a minor injury.

Officers are searching for the man with the force helicopter and an armed response unit.

Police said the attack was not random and they did not believe the man posed a threat to the public. The sword was recovered at the property.

The man is described as white, aged 28, around 5ft 9ins and slim, with mousey-brown short hair, green eyes and a goatee beard.

He is believed to be wearing a work uniform of green trousers and a green T-shirt.

Insp Ian Money said: “This is not a random attack and the offender and victim are known to each other.

“We do not believe the man poses any danger to the public, however anyone who sees him should not approach him and should contact police on 999.”
