Golfers can choose from some of the biggest brands in the game thanks to the opening of a new shop dedicated to their sport. Professional player John Strode is the driving force behind Yes Please Golf, based in Churchill Road, Bicester.

Mr Strode, 33, opened the store in July after making a £100,000 investment in the business which involved completely renovating the premises.

He decided to make the move having worked as a professional at Carswell Golf and Country Club near Faringdon and at Northampton Golf Club while he still acts as a coach for the academy teams across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

The new shop stocks more than 1,200 different lines and has seven major brands in store — Callaway, Titleist, Ping, Cobra, Mizuno, Taylor Made and Odyssey.

There is also a teaching facility to offer indoor golf lessons to players looking to improve their technique, operated by Mr Strode and his two staff, who are fully qualified.

Using the Flightscope radar tracking system golfers will be able to view their shots on a video screen and receive expert advice on how to improve their stance, grip and swing, while there is also an indoor Huxley putting green.

All Yes Please Golf Direct’s products are also available to buy online with Mr Strode’s business model being to offer top quality golf clubs and accessories at Internet prices.

Mr Strode said: “I chose the premises for the location. It is on the intersection with Churchill and Launton roads, so there is great visibility and prominence with good parking.”

Jon Silversides, senior associate at with letting agents Carter Jonas, who arranged the lease of the building, said: “The property is in a well-established, easily accessible retail area and he is bringing something new to north Oxfordshire.” ib n Contact: 01869 240210 Web: www.yespleasegolf.co.uk
