I’M urging everyone who took part in Tesco and Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life events across the South to make every step count, by returning their sponsorship money as soon as possible.

Last year, just under half the women who took part didn’t return any sponsorship money. Many don’t realise that their entry fee only covers the cost of the event.

It’s the sponsorship money that really makes a difference.

Cancer Research UK relies on money raised through Race for Life to fund life-saving research.

It’s thanks to research that my dad Ted is still here today.

He had to have a large tumour removed followed by intense chemotherapy. And now, thankfully, he’s in remission.

That’s why Race for Life means so much to me, because it helped my dad beat cancer.

Every hour, around five people are diagnosed with cancer in the South East and three are diagnosed in the South West.

By helping to fund Cancer Research UK’s crucial work, people in the region could make a big difference to cancer patients here on their doorstep.

So, whatever the amount, I’m asking everyone to make every effort to return their sponsorship money.

It can be paid in online, by phone or by cheque. To find out more, please visit raceforlife.org NELL McANDREW
