A teenager from Headington School has won a national riding competition.

Thea Gordon-Wingfield, 13, from Watlington, won the junior individual title on her horse Katie at the Hurstpierpoint College National school and Pony Club Jumping Championships.

The youngster was also part of her school team, which came third in the junior team final, along with Leah Moorman, 13, and Francesca Sargent, 12.

Thea, above, said: “Katie was amazing and did everything I asked and we did win.”

A senior team from the school – Rhiannon Northeast, 16, India Wishart, 15, and Betsy Glasgow, 16, came fifth in their category.

There were 65 teams from of competitors.
