A series of racist vandal attacks in Oxford are being investigated by police.

Officers are investigating four incidents in Cowley where marker pens were used to write abuse on buildings and cars.

Between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday a Nazi swastika was scratched into the bonnet of a green Ford Fiesta in Cavell Road.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday ‘KKK’ was scratched into the bonnet of a blue Citroen Xara, in Cavell Road.

Between 12.30am on Thursday and 7.30am on Fridaya Nazi swastika was drawn on the front door of Park Stores and also on the front bonnet and rear panel of a white Ford Transit in Florence Park Road. A racist slogan was also written on the van.

And between 8pm on Thursday and 5.30pm on Friday, a racist slogan was written on the walls and window of a property in Rymers Lane.

Sgt Isaac van den Eshof, of Thames Valley Police, said: “Incidents of hate crime like this are rare but when they do happen we take them extremely seriously.

“We will not tolerate this type of behaviour and urge the community to come forward if they have any information about who may be responsible.”

He added that the four incidents were being linked and that officers have increased their patrols in the area.
