A TEENAGER who was found with drugs in Blackbird Leys again just weeks after being caught dealing on the estate was locked up last night.

Durrell Lemonius threw away a package of drugs on the corner of Druce Way and Sandy Lane as he cycled away from police on October 9 last year.

He was arrested and bailed, with a condition not to enter Blackbird Leys. But the 19-year-old was spotted in a car in Balfour Road on November 25 with five wraps of crack.

Lemonius was sentenced to two years and three months in a young offenders’ institute at Oxford Crown Court yesterday having earlier admitted two counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and one count of possessing class A drugs.

Tim Boswell, prosecuting, said the drugs recovered in the first offence were 11 wraps containing 3.57g of heroin and 11 wraps containing 3.36g of crack cocaine.

In total the stash was worth £420 on the street, the court heard.

Mr Boswell said Lemonius, of Mary Price Close, Marston, was then spotted in Balfour Road at about 9.30pm on November 25 and a search of the defendant revealed five wraps of crack cocaine.

The 1.35g of the drug were said to be worth £100 in street deals.

Lemonius had six previous convictions for nine offences, including possession of cannabis, two counts of having a knife and breaching a suspended sentence.

Judge Christopher Compston said: “For a man of 19 they are quite serious antecedents (previous convictions).

“Even when given fairly humane sentences he doesn’t even follow them.”

Graham Bennett, defending, said of his client: “He had unfortunately got into the habit of using drugs, misusing drugs.

“He got into debt and he chose a particularly unwise way of trying to get out of that debt, no doubt tempted by his view that it was a quick way to get out of debt.

“In truth, it is a quick way to get before the courts.”

Judge Compston said: “You knew perfectly well as a drug person that you should have been having them with a view to selling them.

“That’s in October, what happens in November (was) you should not be in Blackbird Leys and you are possessing them again.”

He added: “Go on like this and next time we will be taking about four or five years (in prison).”
