A WOMAN from Witney had her hair shaved off to support her mother through chemotherapy.

Amy Temple, 25, of Hailey Road, had the cut last Thursday, raising thousands of pounds for charity.

She said: “As soon as mum said she was going to have chemo and would lose her hair, I said I would get my head shaved to support her.”

But what started off as a small event spiralled into a full-blown fundraising party.

About 100 people attended the event, at The Eagle Vaults in Market Square, Witney, and were entertained with live music and DJs. The night raised about £3,000 for the Brodey Centre, a cancer care centre at the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Ms Temple, pictured above with her mum Sheila after the headshave, said: “We have such a good community in Witney and it is brilliant that they have all turned out.” She said she would grow her hair back as her mum’s did.

Mum, Sheila Temple, 52, of Hailey Road, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March.
