A sponsored swim has raised more than £300 for Barton Football Club.
The Barton Swim Challenge, took place at Barton Leisure Centre from Friday March 19 until April 15, and its aim was to raise funds for Barton community projects. Every time people swam at the pool, £1 was donated to the community cause.
Dave Rose, Barton United Football Club Fixture Secretary, said: “We are delighted to receive this money – it will definitely help, with the start of the season approaching when we have to buy new kits.
“With the new Barton pavilion we are hoping for a fantastic season, and this money should kickstart it for us.”
Councillor Mark Lygo, Board Member for Parks and Sport, said: “I am delighted that the sponsored swim has raised £310 for Barton Football Club.
“They do a lot of work within the community to encourage youngsters to take part in football, and I hope this money helps them increase their activities and work with the youngsters.”
The Barton Swim Challenge was organised by Bayards Hill Primary School, The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), Oxford City Council, Fusion, NHS Oxfordshire, School Sports Partnership and GO Active.
