WHEN Christine Dunkin hit 65 she knew exactly who would benefit from her milestone.

Mrs Dunkin, of Greenfields, Arncott, near Bicester, laid on a ‘Party with a Difference’ for friends and family and raised £871.52 for Maggies Centre, Oxford, in memory of her sister Margaret Hopcroft, who died in 2009 from cancer, aged 61 Arncott Village Hall was decorated with palm trees, lilos and rubber rings and people were fed from a snack bar.

Friends organised games, sketches, competitions and an auction at the event.

Among the prizes was a Maggies Centre T-shirt signed by celebrities including Rolf Harris, Esther Rantzen, Tony Blackburn and Rula Lenska, who Mrs Dunkin bumped into a recent Buckingham Palace garden party.

Mrs Dunkin said: “It was a great evening. I just want to thank everyone who supported the event.”
