LAST year I organised a petition to the county council not to discontinue the only bus service in the Headington Quarry area, which was the 108/118.

It only came to Quarry three times a day, but it was better than nothing. The service did get a small subsidy from the county council.

Thirty people signed the petition, which I gave personally to my local county councillors Roz Smith and Liz Brighouse.

There was no response from the council’s transport committee.

Now the service has been discontinued.

Another company, Heyfordian, has taken over the route 108/118, but the county subsidy has been withdrawn and it is no longer coming into Quarry.

Is this another example of how much the council listens to voters?

When you consider the millions the council has spent on stupid cosmetic road schemes, this looks to me like an act of petty meanness.
