A WOMAN had to be cut free from a car after it overturned in a field near Burford.

The emergency services were called to the scene beside the A424, at about 12.45pm yesterday.

Police closed the road at the roundabout with the A361 and High Street to allow the emergency services to work.

The fire service used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the woman from the car, and she was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with neck injuries.

A man, who was driving the red Renault 19, suffered minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
