THE march of Tesco is continuing across the county.
Several years ago Bicester hit the national headlines after it was labelled a ‘Tesco town’.
Now the supermarket chain is popping up on seemingly never ending sites of former pubs, old car parks and other disused land across Oxfordshire.
It is very easy to criticise its apparently unstoppable dominance.
But the fact of the matter is that – for many, at least – it offers convenience, value for money and familiarity.
Those who don’t like its continuing encroachment must show their displeasure by voting with their feet – and their trolleys.
New Tesco stores will only hit independent shops if consumers let them.
