POLICE were last night looking for the owners of silverware found buried under dirt and leaves behind a barn between Newington and Drayton St Leonard.

Thames Valley Police think the chalice and a wafer holder may have been stolen from a church in Thame.

Pc Jonathan Shaw, from Thame police station, found the items at about 8am on Tuesday. He said: “I believe these items were dumped months or maybe years ago as they were very dirty and needed cleaning before these pictures were taken.

“I would like to give these items back to the rightful owners, but they will have to show some evidence to prove it is theirs.”

To claim the silverware, call 08458 505505 or visit Thame Police Station.
