A 26-YEAR-OLD woman was sexually assaulted in a Berinsfield wood.
She was walking to the bus stop in Shadwell Road at about 11.15am on Wednesday when she was grabbed from behind by a man who tried to drag her towards bushes.
But she ran away along the footpath back towards the village.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack and was yesterday still in police custody.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
Det Sgt Craig Burchall said: “Thankfully, the woman was uninjured in the assault, but is understandably very shaken by what has happened.
“This sort of attack in broad daylight is very rare and officers from the local neighbourhood team will be in the area today to speak with local residents and offer reassurance.
“I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area between the bus stop on the A4074 and Shadwell Road at the time of the incident.”
