OXFORD Town Hall has been jumping this week.

As part of Oxford City Council’s Contemporary Dance week, youngsters have been taking part in dance sessions in the Town Hall’s Assembly Room.

Led by Joelle Pappas, director of Tac-au-Tac Dance Theatre, the sessions were attended by young people aged between six and 11.

Ms Pappas, who has around 35 years experience in contemporary dance, said: “They have been fantastic and very creative. We have made a lot of different pieces.

“They came from all different backgrounds. Some of them had never danced before.

“Contemporary dance is less formal than ballet, for example. It is about each individual movement.”

The children will be putting on a performance for their parents today.

The city council will be running an Urban Dance week next month with more dance sessions available for any youngsters looking to bust a move.
