MADISON Mayhew is one six-year-old who has got happy feet after being named world champion freestyle disco dancer.

The youngster, a pupil at St Francis Primary School in Horspath Road, Oxford, won the under-eight title earlier this month in a dance-off in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.

In the process she beat dancers from around the world as she made her way through the knock-out competition.

Madison said: “I love dancing and winning the competition was amazing.

“I can’t wait for the next one.”

Her mother Louisa Armstrong said: “It was amazing. I was really proud. She has always been interested in dancing. She loves it.”

Her dance teacher Josie Gurden has some experience of competitions herself and thinks Madison, of Normandy Crescent, Cowley, might be something special.

She said: “Madison absolutely fantastic for her age. It is like there is no limit to what she can perform. She’s a very special person and she’s very quiet. It is amazing what you can get out of her. I imagine she will have years of many more titles to come.”
