A dilapidated 1960s block in Jericho has been given a new lease of life with a £1m makeover.

Juxon House in Juxon Street was refurbished and four luxury penthouses grafted on to the top floor.

Oxford-based Lucy Properties, which owns the building, also added new windows, balconies, kitchens and bathrooms to each apartment.

All the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments will be let, with rents starting from £950 per month.

Sarah Pascoe, of Lucy Properties, said: “The property was built in the 1960s and the exterior was getting worse and worse, so we made a decision to gut and strip-out the whole building.

“The project is costing a fair amount of money and to recoup some of that we created four luxury penthouse apartments on the top of the building.

“But all of the other flats have also been done to a very high spec, with wooden floors and granite worktops.

“We have gone for a retro look in terms of the kitchens and furniture, and the penthouses will have a shabby chic feel to them.”

Building work on the block, which is part of Castle Mill House, started in January and will be completed next month ready for tenants to move in from September. Three-bedroom apartments are available to rent for £1,400 per month, two-bedrooms for £1,200 and one-bedroom for £950.

The three-bedroom penthouse is on the market for £2,300 per month, the two-bedroom version for £1,900 and the one-bedroom for £1,700.
