THE Pressed Steel Company at Cowley was keen to recognise workers with long service.

A dinner was held annually to honour those who had completed 25 years.

This picture was taken in March 1968 at the 16th annual dinner of the 25 Year Club at the Randolph Hotel in Oxford.

It comes from Heather Morris, of Arlington Drive, Old Marston.

Her late father, Frank Timms, is sitting next to the lady in the light dress.

A bumper list of workers had reached their 25-year milestone during 1967.

The programme for the dinner listed 106 people – 93 men and 13 women – who had worked for the company since 1942.

The evening began with a menu of prawn cocktail, tournedos Tyrolienne, with cut French beans and jacket or French fried potatoes, apple strudel and cream, cheeseboard, coffee and wine.

Then there was cabaret featuring comedian and compere Felix Bowness, accordion player and singer Marie Hyde, dancers Ray and Jackie Penn, pianist Peter Williams, multi-instrumentalist Johnny Laycock, and Tracey Miller, described as a “lovely TV and recording artiste”.

The 25 Year Club pins and gold watches were presented to the 106 long-serving staff by the company’s managing director, John Lutyens.

The evening finished promptly at 10.50pm with the singing of the National Anthem.
