CANCER campaigner Clive Stone has been nominated to be an Olympic torch bearer.

The Oxford Mail columnist said he was shocked but hoped people would get behind his nomination so he could raise awareness for all cancer patients.

He said: “If we could just get this off the ground with the good people of Oxfordshire behind it, then it would be the icing on the cake for many cancer patients.

“We really must beat this terrible disease and I dedicate the rest of my life to try and make a difference for others.”

The 63-year-old, from Eynsham, who has campaigned to get kidney cancer patients prescribed life-saving drugs, has been told his own kidney cancer has spread to his brain.
