WHILE not wanting to enter into an argument over Mr Makepeace’s derogatory letter about the Gosford and Water Eaton Parish Council and the police being bad neighbours (Oxford Mail, July 7), I would like readers to know that feedback from residents made at the May 25 exhibition at Thames Valley Police headquarters helped those planning the HQ redevelopment to address concerns raised.

It is understood that residents living around the HQ site will receive a letter before the planning application is submitted, which will explain proposals on how parking of cars can be absorbed into the HQ site.

As all readers may be aware, on-street parking can be a national as well as a local issue for residential roads.

Some vehicles that park outside Mr Makepeace’s house have proved to be nothing to do with the police but belonging to commuters catching a premium bus to work or to shop in Oxford.

The parish council has a duty to be open-minded when considering any type of planning matter and is obliged to take a balanced view. In this case it is hoped residents can be assured that their concerns have been taken into account and will be monitored.
