THhe ex-wife of Oxford paedophile Gerard Cullen has claimed he raped a child while she was giving birth to their son.

Cullen is to be released from prison this month after serving seven years for raping and sexually abusing two young brothers.

He raped one of them more than 70 times over a seven-year period in the 1990s.

His 44-year-old ex-wife Fiona told the Oxford Mail she had no idea of the abuse during their three-year relationship and feared he would return to Oxford.

One of the rapes happened on the same night she was giving birth to their child at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

She said: “The night our son was born, he raped one of his victims. It makes me feel quite ill.

“I did not have a clue.

“But everything that happened in the relationship with him fell into place.

“Him sending me out with friends, going off for football from 10 in the morning and coming back at seven at night.”

The pair were married in 1995 after dating for two years, but they divorced in 1996, when their son was six months old.

Cullen, 50, who lived in Woodbine Place, in the city centre, was jailed for 11 years in 2004 after a jury found him guilty of five charges of rape and five of indecent assault.

After his release, Cullen will be on licence for four years, which for the first 12 months will include a ban from Oxford.

He will initially live in a hostel with a curfew in a Thames Valley town, but after a year it is understood he will be allowed to visit Oxford.

His ex-wife said: “He will be advised by the police not to come back to Oxford, but they have no power to stop him.”

Thames Valley Probation Service chief executive Gerry Marshall said: “Mr Cullen will be subject to rigorous licence conditions which include where he must live, where he cannot go and who he cannot contact.”

Cullen’s twin brother David was jailed for life in 2008 for 28 sex offences.
