Bicester Town Football Club – at the heart of the community for 130 years – has been shown the red card.

It has been told it must quit its Oxford Road site by next Friday. Landlord Bicester Sports Association (BSA) said the club had not met the “commitments” it agreed to.

The club has called an emergency meeting for tonight at the clubhouse at 7.30pm for members and supporters.

In a statement, BSA chairman Adam Wade said: “This has been a difficult decision for BSA, but we have had no alternative as the football club have been unable to meet the commitments of our agreement last year.”

But club chairman John Clutterbuck said: “We have paid them (BSA) off completely, and last season’s debt.

“You can’t do everything all at once and they don’t seem to accept that.”
