I WAS a child on the Northway Estate. My parents moved onto the estate in November 1951, together with me and my older brother and sister.

Ours was not the first family to move there.

My mathematics tells me this was 60 years ago, so why is the estate now celebrating its 50th anniversary?

I lived with my parents for 20 years until I married in 1971.

My father, however, still lives there and I think he will be perplexed that the first 10 years he lived there have been forgotten.

He celebrates his 90th birthday this month and he could be the oldest/longest resident in Northway. Does anyone know anyone who has been there for longer?

It mentioned in the article (Oxford Mail, July 9) that Plowman Tower was being constructed in 1969. I remember vividly, however, that when I played football for Northway School under-15s, the workers stopped and watched us from the scaffolding; but this was the 1964/65 season.
