OXFORD band Stornoway are planning a triumphant homecoming charity gig in Oxford nearly a year after their last performance here.

The band will premiere some new material as a special treat for their fans.

The Cowley-based four-piece will be raising money for Oxford-based charities the Sumatran Orangutan Society and the Earth Trust, along with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

The event, dubbed Concert4Conservation, will take place on Saturday, September 3, at The Regal, Cowley Road.

Other performers will include Binsey Americana act The Epstein, and The Dreaming Spires.

The three charities chosen by Stornoway have a personal resonance for them.

Lead singer Brian Briggs said: “I’ve been passionate about wildlife conservation for longer than I’ve been passionate about music.

“Concert4Conservation was the most obvious way for me to combine my interests and support three great conservation charities.”

Tickets cost from £12 and can be bought from www.seetickets.com or the Truck Store in Cowley Road.
