Sir – One welcomes the real possibility of something attractive being built in this part of Oxford, but regrets that the ghastly orange building and other nasties to the north west of the ice rink lie outside the proposed boundary.

One wonders whether “London-based Planning Potential” has ever actually been to the site because the impression given is that it has its eye on Oxpens Meadow, the “nearby open space”. Local knowledge would tell them that this precious piece of land is soon to become a town green (at least in part) unless the city council is about to do a monstrous U-turn.

It seems sensible that the development should spill over on to the adjacent city council’s land, five acres according to councillor Cook, but surely Mr Cook you don’t mean the five acres which is Oxpens Meadow, Heaven forbid! No, you must mean the coach park and those dreadful buildings I refer to above. Now that does make sense.

Let the people who will come to live in Oxpens enjoy the river and the meadow as those of us who already live here surely do.
