A DRIVER has died after being thrown from his car when it hit a tree near Banbury.
Firefighters were called to the crash on the road between Deddington and Clifton at 11.04pm on Saturday.
Thames Valley Police spokesman Craig Evry said the driver, a 32-year-old man from the Banbury area, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford suffering severe injuries but died hours later.
He added: “The driver’s family has been informed and an accident investigation is being carried out.”
Crew manager Matt Davies, of Banbury fire Station, added: “Upon arrival it was clear that the vehicle had been involved in a severe collision with a tree and the driver had been ejected from the vehicle.
“The vehicle had left the road at speed before hitting a tree and coming to rest across both lanes of the road.”
