A 70-STRONG cast at Peers School, Littlemore, staged an ambitious production of The Pirates of Penzance in 1973.
It proved a popular choice, as audiences gave them rapturous applause at the end.
It was the first time the school had tackled Gilbert and Sullivan, which, the musical director, Leslie Perrem, confessed, could sometimes be difficult for youngsters.
The cast included pupils and staff. Music was provided by the Oxford Studio Orchestra.
In the picture, Allan Nicholl, 15, left, holds a mirror for Frank Harrison, proving that even the Pirate King needs beauty treatment.
