ROLLER skating was a popular pastime at the Regal Centre in the 1980s. Every Wednesday evening, up to 100 youngsters took part. In the first picture, from left to right, Madelene Fulker, Sian Hawkinson, Rachel Chapman, Michele Jones and Rebecca Watt show their skills.
Wallingford Allotments and Gardens Society’s annual show at Centre 70 in 1983 attracted 400 entries in a variety of classes. The second picture shows 12-year-old Adrian Proctor with a potato which looked like a tortoise, and his sister Suzanne, 11, with her entry, a patchwork cushion.
Wallingford Rotary Club organised a dance in 1982 and handed the £102 profit to Wallingford Work Centre for the Elderly, which employed 27 elderly and disabled people. Rotary chairman Ken Jolley, centre, is seen in the third picture handing the cheque to work centre chairman Gerry Clayphan.
