THE age of crinolines and bustles returned to Oxford in 1975 when a fancy dress parade was held at a Victorian Fair at St Nicholas School, Old Marston.
The event, which raised nearly £300 for Parent Teacher Association funds, began with a parade through village streets to allow staff, parents and pupils to show off their costumes.
In the evening, after a bazaar in the school hall, a barn dance was held, featuring Victorian parlour singing and a can-can by six members of the school staff.
