Sir – On page 4 of last week’s issue, Andrew Smith wrote about our efforts to install solar panels on the roofs of the Cherwell School this summer.

The main complaint is that he writes that the minimum for investors is £5,000. On the website (unless it had already been corrected) it stated the correct amount of £500. Many investors are attracted by the possibility of investment at these lower levels and the impact of the article is to stop them investing.

The seriousness of this incorrect reporting was emphasised when I received two messages from potential investors who had excluded themselves because of the supposed lower level of investment.

This has been a damaging piece of reporting of a community initiative which is still halfway through its campaign to raise the money.
