OXFORD companies marked Bike Week by enjoying a dazzling display from some of the top riders in the country.

Lee McCaw and Scott Wilson, who together are known as MAD, Mountainbike Aerial Display, showed off their skills at Oxford Business Park, in Cowley, yesterday, as part of events to celebrate cycling.

For one of their tricks, they jumped over the park’s landscape supervisor Trevor Braker.

He said: “I was volunteered by one of my staff and I had to sit down while they were doing jumps. It was good fun and a good laugh.

“They handed me a helmet, which I thought was for my head, but it turned out they wanted me to put it over something else as protection.”

Thames Valley Police officers gave advice on cycle security and staff from Warland Cycles, in Botley Road, provided maintenance in a bike surgery.

There was also a cycle spinning class run by staff from David Lloyd Leisure, while George and Delilah’s cafe kept to the theme by selling refreshments from their ice cream bike.

The event was organised by park owners Goodman.

Property services director Richard Potter said: “By teaming up with local partners and encouraging our customers to take part in Bike Week, we hope to inspire them to incorporate cycling into their everyday life.”
