LUCKY sports fans can start the countdown to the London 2012 Olympics after finding out which tickets they have secured for next August’s Games.

But thousands of others have been left fuming after their dreams of seeing a slice of history evaporated somewhere inside the complex online ticketing system.

James Edginton, 43, from Chipping Norton, boasted a 100 per cent strike rate with his ticket purchasing.

He only applied for four £50 tickets, for the men’s 1,500m finals at the Olympic stadium on August 7 – and got all of them.

He said: “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see the Olympics in your own country.”

But among those losing out was Oxfordshire medal hopeful Hatti Dean, who hopes to compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Games.

Yesterday on Facebook, she said she wanted “everyone to STOP boasting about their amazing Olympics tickets unless they have got any to spare”.

People allocated tickets were e-mailed confirming which events they had received tickets for. Those who missed out can try to buy leftover tickets from 6am tomorrow.
