FOLLOWING a recent article (OAP is robbed by bogus caller, Oxford Mail, June 14), we would like to make your readers aware that all TV licensing inquiry officers carry a security card with a helpline number that people can call to verify their identity.
There is also a password system which can offer additional confirmation of identity, if this is required for those who may be worried by the visit.
This password, which will only be known by you and the inquiry officer, can be arranged by contacting TV Licensing on the same number – 0300 790 6046.
